The Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture of the MSAR Government, Alexis Tam, recently led a delegation to organize a mega promotional event 'Experience Macao - Korea', held by Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) in Korea.

'Experience Macao - Korea' featured an array of highlights including 'Experience Macao Your Own Style' Road Show, which was inaugurated at COEX Mall, a mega shopping mall in the Korean capital of Seoul. Macao's attractions around the World Heritage Site in miniature replicas figured prominently in the Road Show.

The event also marks MGTO's first-ever partnership with LG Electronics of Korea, which presented a technology-fuelled promotion for Koreans to experience Macao by putting on the latest '360 VR headset'. The MGTO promotion also included a 4D racing simulation of the Macao Grand Prix. In addition, the Road Show presented an LED show as the latest innovation and a Macao travelogue starring renowned Korean chef Choi Hyun Seok. Visitors also participated in other fun activities including a game to win Portuguese egg tarts. Macao tourism information and enquiry service were offered on-site along with Macao tour packages run by Korean travel agencies, which have been successful in attracting a large number of local residents interested in obtaining more travel tips on Macao.

The 'Taste of Macao: East meets West' food promotion, running until 18th May, is another feature of 'Experience Macao - Korea', and to promote 'Macanese Gastronomy', a listed Macao Intangible Cultural Heritage, MGTO has invited three Macao chefs to prepare signature Macanese dishes for locals and visitors in Seoul, at JW Marriot Dongdaemun Square.

During the promotion, MGTO also hosted 'Macao - Korea Travel Mart' in Seoul and Busan, while continuing to present the 'Macao Tourism Product Promotion Scheme' to encourage the travel trade to participate and forge partnerships.

MGTO also hosted an 'Experience Macao' Gala Dinner to which nearly 200 representatives of governmental entities, travel trade and media from both Korea and Macao were invited to embark upon a culinary journey combined with Macao Intangible Cultural Heritage, advanced technology and magical performance.

Secretary Tam also met with Kim Chong, Vice Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Korea, to exchange opinions on the collaborative development on culture, tourism and sports between the two destinations. Both parties also agreed upon the great potential that lies in the cooperation between Macao and Korea, and will deepen their connection to boost collaborative development in the future.
