Macao Peninsula and Taipa continue to see the network of pedestrian and panoramic roads expand, making it easier and more pleasant for residents and visitors to commute and stroll around the city. On Macao Peninsula side, with the gradual completion of the works in Zone 3 of the 'Improvement Plan of Rua da Encosta and the Pedestrian Liaison Connections between ZAPE and Guia Hill', the pedestrian roads next to the Cheok Kun Pavilion accessing the trail at Guia Hill were opened to the public on 17th November, 2016. Meanwhile, in Taipa, the construction of a new observation deck, located on the hill of Taipa Pequena, has been finished. Soon residents and visitors will be able to use the new panoramic elevators and pedestrian overpass of the new Taipa obeservation deck, to reach the viewpoint, with a panoramic 180º that facilitates views over the Shizi Men navigation channel of Hengqin and the southern end of the Macao Peninsula.

The Zone 3 of 'Improvement Plan of Rua da Encosta and the Pedestrian Liaison Connections between ZAPE and Guia Hill' consist mainly of the construction of two roads for pedestrians near the Cheok Kun Pavilion with access to the Calçada do Gaio and the Guia Hill trail. The road accessing Calçada do Gaio has been completed and is open to the public. The road accessing the Guia Hill trail is in the last phase of completion. The public can use the two roads to access the Estrada dos Parses and Estrada de Cacilhas, as well as using the pedestrian system connecting Rua do Campo to NAPE, which will facilitate pedestrian movement between the central zone and ZAPE.

The construction of the observation deck on Small Taipa Hill, occupying some 600 m2 near the roundabout of Leonel de Sousa, includes the construction of a square with elevators, canopy, public sanitary facilities, panoramic elevators and an area for stopping and the parking of buses plus the totally preserved Earth God Temple. A pedestrian overpass was constructed with connection to panoramic lifts at the same time. At the roundabout of Leonel de Sousa, under the belvedere, a bus stop has been installed so that citizens and tourists can visit this new tourist spot. The opening date of the observation deck has yet to be announced.
