Pousada da São Tiago Suspends Business

Pousada da São Tiago was originally constructed as a fortress

Due to noise created by the construction of a new transport hub in Barra, Pousada da São Tiago has requested suspension of business of its hotel and dining service from Macao Government Tourism Office from 1st April, 2017 to 31st December, 2018.

The 12-room Pousada de São Tiago hotel was originally the São Tiago da Barra Fortress, which, constructed in 1629 by the Macau Portuguese Government, was part of the defensive system of Macao in those days. The fortress was built to mourn a Portuguese army envoy; and in 1740, the Chapel of St. James was built inside the fortress.
