22nd MIF Capitalises on ‘Belt and Road’ Opportunity

The 22nd Macao International Trade and Investment Fair (MIF) - scheduled to take place from 19th to 21st October at The Venetian Macao - has been designed to enhance Macao's role as a trade and economic cooperation services platform between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries, while further participating in the tasks of constructing the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Consequently, the 22nd MIF features Angola and Guangdong as 'Partner Country' and 'Partner Province'. Showcasing various pavilions, various themed forums and conferences, plus special highlights and promotional activities, MIF will also jointly organise presentations and seminars with Cambodia - one of the countries along the 'Belt and Road' - on that country's investment and tourism opportunities. In addition, the 2017 Portuguese-speaking Countries Products and Services Exhibition (Macao) will be held concurrently with the 22nd MIF.

This year, once again, MIF has adopted the theme of 'Co-operation - Key to Business Opportunities', with an exhibition area similar to that of last year, covering trade, cultural and creative industries, food products, and Traditional Chinese Medicine. In addition, themed pavilions such as the 'Partner Country' and 'Partner Province' pavilions will be heavily featured.

The event also offers various fringe activities such as the 'Angola, Guangdong and Macao Trade and Investment Forum'; 'Jiangsu-Macao Portuguese-speaking Countries High-level Roundtable on Infrastructure Building'; '3rd Young Entrepreneurs Forum of China and Portuguese-speaking Countries'; '14th Summit of Chinese Entrepreneurs', and many more. Meanwhile, MIF will continue to provide a platform for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to promote co-operation, exchanges and development, helping them 'Go Global' and 'Bring in Investments', while exploring more opportunities.

In order to assist exhibitors find co-operation partners, promote their products/services and expand their business, MIF continues to provide exhibitors with an array of free business matching and negotiation services, covering purchasing negotiation, brand agency, and 'Online Business Matching Service Platform', which offers an integrated matching service for pavilions, with special arrangements and delegations to enhance overall effectiveness and expansion of markets.

MIF is one of Macao's major annual international economic and trade events. Last year, MIF occupied an area of over 30,000m2 supporting more than 1,600 exhibition booths, attracting the participation of delegations from over 50 countries and regions. More than 380 business negotiation sessions were held in the Business Matching Area, of which 110 were arranged via the Online Business Matching Service Platform, resulting in contracts being inked for more than 50 projects.
