From 17th to 19th January, the city will host the 'International Gastronomy Forum, Macao 2018', bringing to town members of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network, officials and experts to connect with and share their successful experiences, as one of the first initiatives to be launched this year to highlight Macao's new status as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy.

Organized by Macao Government Tourism Office, this will be the second edition of the International Gastronomy Forum and the first since the city joined the UNESCO Creative Cities Network in the field of Gastronomy late last year. The Forum will bring to Macao delegates from around 20 UNESCO Creative Cities - the majority of which are Creative Cities of Gastronomy - plus top representatives from UNESCO headquarters, along with local and international experts.

Participants in the International Gastronomy Forum will arrive just in time to witness the launch ceremony of the Macao Year of Gastronomy on 17th January. The launch marks the official start of a series of promotional, educational and other initiatives, including the Forum, to be conducted by public and private stakeholders to forge Macao's reputation as a city of gastronomy.

Themed 'The Potential of Gastronomy', the Forum will focus upon the potential of gastronomy in the development of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network, discuss the potential of Macao and other creative cities in the network and share experiences and best practices. In addition, two internal UNESCO Creative Cities Network meeting sessions will be held in Macao to welcome and integrate the new Creative Cities of Gastronomy, as well as matching members in new partnerships and project initiatives, among other activities.
