Organized by Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) and over a hundred local transmedia creators, Macao Light Festival 2017 - AMOR MACAU successfully drew to a close, having lit up the city from 3rd to 31st December. Employing fascinating light artistry, the event portrayed the harmony of cultural diversity and touching historical stories of the city while passing on the spirit of love. The Festival attracted residents and visitors taking selfies or checking in on social media, joining the light voyage in search of love and dreams.

Radiating from the Ruins of St. Paul's at the heart of the event, the routes of Macao Light Festival 2017 covered wider areas than the previous year, taking in Senado Square, Anim'Arte NAM VAN to Nam Van Lakes Nautical Centre, St. Lazarus' Parish and Camões Garden. Taipa Houses also served as one of the designated locations. In addition, the Festival introduced a new series of innovative and diverse activities, including Light Art Exhibition, Outdoor Local Concerts, Outdoor Movie and so forth.

The Festival joined hands with two local catering establishments to present a Light Dinner, an array of feasts blending light projections and the culinary delights of unprecedented dining experiences, riding on the creative momentum generated by the recent designation of Macao as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy. In parallel with the event, related cultural and creative products by local talent were launched for sale at information centres set up at eight designated locations during the Festival to showcase the all-round creativity of the local cultural and creative industry.

Macao Light Festival 2017 was inaugurated on 3rd December, 2017, on the same day as the Macao International Marathon. During the Macao Light Festival, the city was awash with spectacular events and festivities including the 2nd International Film Festival & Awards • Macao, the Macau Shopping Festival and Macao International Parade, as well as celebrations for the 18th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Macao Special Administrative Region, the Christmas holidays and New Year's Eve. December's festive vibes derived from tourism, culture, sports and other mega events in a spectacular potpourri of the season appreciated by one and all.

In 2015, MGTO launched the first edition of the Macao Light Festival in order to attract visitors to various districts of the city for an appreciation of local culture and history shaped by light artistry from innovative angles. The popular event also seeks to extend the length of visitors' stay and boost the corresponding economic benefits for local businesses, while tapping the potential of cultural tourism.
