AirAsia plans to launch a direct flight between Macao and Phuket on 8th January, with over 15000 tickets sold via a late 2017 promotion, with customers mainly from Macao, Hong Kong and the Pearl River Delta. Excluding the new route between Macao and Phuket, AirAsia now operates seven direct flights from Macao; namely, Macao-Bangkok, Macao-Chiang Mai, Macao-Pattaya, Macao-Kuala Lumpur, Macao-Manila, and Macao-Johor Bahru.

AirAsia CEO of Hong Kong and Macao Celia Lao Sio Wun said Phuket is always one of the target destinations for tourists from Macao and the Pearl River Delta. She believes that the new route will create new opportunities for the tourism industry, and co-operate with other AirAsia flight routes to increase the number of local tourists.

The flight number of direct flights between Macao and Phuket is FD625, with daily departure at 10:40am. Total flight time is expected to be three hours and 25 minutes.
