The Tourism Federation of Cities in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Bay Area (the Federation) - a brand new organization designed for comprehensive tourism co-operation established in December, 2017 - comprises the tourism authorities of the nine cities of Guangdong Province; namely, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Foshan, Huizhou, Dongguan, Zhongshan, Jiangmen and Zhaoqing, in addition to the two Special Administrative Regions of Hong Kong and Macao.

Upholding the principle of 'concerted development, joint branding and market sharing', the Federation will promote communication and co-operation among members via resource integration, image promotion, collaborative marketing and other means, as all members join hands to forge a world-class travel destination. The Secretariat of the Federation has been set up in the Tourism Administration of Guangdong Province, with the Tourism Administration of Guangzhou Municipality appointed the first rotating chairman of the year.

The Federation held its first Members' Assembly in December, 2017, at which it approved the Articles of the Tourism Federation of Cities in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Bay Area plus an agreement signed during the Members' Assembly. The Director General of the Department of Affairs on Tourism of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan of the China National Tourism Administration, Li Yaying, encouraged the Federation to take concrete actions to enhance co-operation by improving policy alignment, launching new collaborative projects, developing new features, integrating regional tourism resources and jointly tapping into different tourism markets, thus striding forward with innovation to create a new landscape for the tourism development of the Bay Area.
