MGTO Promotional Activities in March

March heralds the arrival of Spring, so what better time to attract visitors from around the world to enjoy the many charms of Macao, one of UNESCO's newest Creative Cities of Gastronomy. This month, Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) will hold a series of events in Hong Kong, the Taiwan region, Malaysia, the United Kingdom, and the United States (in chronological order) to promote Macao's wonderful tourism experiences and rich tourism resources.

Hong Kong

MGTO Hong Kong has organized a series of promotional events for this month, and on 2nd March will host a Spring luncheon at the Island Shangri-La to thank the Hong Kong travel trade and incentive partners for their support to the tourism development of Macao over the years.

From 19th to 22nd March, MGTO - together with the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR and several local film and television industry partners - will join the 22nd Hong Kong International Film and TV Market taking place at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre with a Macao Pavilion promoting Macao as an ideal film location, in order to facilitate business exchanges and explore co-operation opportunities for the local movie industry. MGTO will also take this opportunity to introduce the International Film Festival & Awards.Macao.

On 23rd and 24th March, MGTO Hong Kong will organize a familiarization tour for Hong Kong teachers aimed at highlighting the Travel Stimulation Programme and Macao as an ideal destination for students.

Taiwan region

This month, MGTO's PR consultant is attending various travel fairs to promote Macao, including the Kaohsiung International Travel Fair from 2nd to 5th March, Taichung International Travel Fair from 9th to 12th March, and Cheng Kung International Travel Fair from 23rd to 26th March, while supporting Taiwan travel agencies in their sales of Macao travel products.

Moreover, MGTO is organizing traditional Spring luncheons in Taipei and Kaohsiung for the media and travel trade on 20th and 22nd March, respectively. On 21st March, MGTO is also organizing a travel mart in Taichung to enhance the interaction between the travel trade of Macao and the Taiwan region, with the aim of encouraging co-operation and business opportunities in 2018.

Malaysia

MGTO Malaysia will participate in the Malaysia International Travel Mart (MITM) from 9th to 11th March in Johor Bahru. In addition, MGTO Malaysia will participate in the 2018 Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) Fair in Kuala Lumpur (16th to 18th March), Johor Bahru (23rd to 25th March) and Penang (31st March to 1stApril), on which occasions it will promote Macao travel products.

In support of '2018 Macao Year of Gastronomy', MGTO Malaysia will co-operate with Fat Tea Macanese Food - the only Macanese restaurant in Malaysia - to introduce the uniqueness of Macanese cuisine to the public, with promotional video and materials displayed in the restaurant to update the public about the new tourism product offerings.

MGTO Malaysia will invite a Malaysian production team to Macao to film a travelogue for Muslim visitors promoting Macao as a destination offering fun-filled bonding moments, especially for those travelling with children and family, in addition to identifying the territory's tourism infrastructure and gastronomy for Muslim visitors.

United Kingdom

MGTO UK will participate in PATA Exchange, the flagship event of the UK Chapter of the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) on 12th March, meeting with representatives of tour operators, wholesalers and travel agencies from across the United Kingdom and Ireland.

MGTO UK will also participate in the 'TravMedia' International Media Marketplace, sponsoring the evening reception to present the latest tourism developments of Macao.

United States

From 17th to 23rd March, MGTO USA will facilitate the visit of top social media influencers to Macao to learn about the destination and share its wonders with their large followings, highlighted by Macao gastronomy and the city's recent designation as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy.
