In order to simplify the procedures for local and foreign filmmakers applying to film in Macao, the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC), in collaboration with a number of public services - namely, the Macao Government Tourism Office, Sports Bureau, Customs Service, Fire Services Bureau, Public Security Police Force, Judiciary Police, Transport Bureau, Civil Aviation Authority, and the Marine and Water Bureau - has officially launched the 'Co-ordination Service for Filming Permit Application' (the Co-ordination Service). IC will serve as the responsible public service for receiving all applications submitted by filmmakers and subsequently refer such applications to participating public services in the network for follow-up.

As well as the abovementioned public departments, the Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau is one of the participating public departments of the Co-ordination Service and provides the following services: 'Permit for Setting off Firecrackers' and 'Licence for Setting off Rockets and Fireworks'. Furthermore, the Labour Affairs Bureau will provide information related to exceptional cases for the Regulation on Prohibition of Illegal Work and answer queries about related laws and regulations such as the Law on Employment of Non-Resident Workers. Website links to the above information and enquiry services have been uploaded to the IC website for applicants' reference.

Besides serving as the responsible public service for receiving all film applications, IC answers enquiries and offers consultation services plus application guidelines, document collection and referral in addition to the online checking of application status. Replies to applications will be given directly by the respective participating public departments, who will be responsible for liaising with applicants.

During the trial run of the Co-ordination Service, held from 31st May to 31st December, 2017, some 91 filming applications were received, 73 of which were submitted via the Co-ordination Service, indicating a satisfactory implementation during this period. Following its official launch, enhancements to the Co-ordination Service will be made on an ongoing basis.
