The Macao SAR Government Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) has launched the procedures to list the '2nd Group of Proposed Property Classification of Macao' deemed to be of high heritage value, which includes some nine properties. The classification also seeks to provide more tourist attractions to showcase the history and culture of Macao for visitors, enrich the content of Macao's cultural tourism, and foster Macao's development as a world centre of tourism and leisure.

In accordance with the Macao Heritage Protection Law, the '2nd Group of Proposed Property Classification of Macao' identifies properties which reflect the characteristics of local culture; with the necessary information and material and valid arguments with sufficient evidence. They also possess mature conditions for classification; or are in a state of endangered condition requiring urgent attention.

The nine properties are: Patane Night Watch House (Patane); Sin Fong Temple; St. Paul's College Archaeological Site (section of the Old City Walls Rua de D. Belchior Carneiro); No. 6, Edifício na Calçada do Gaio; No. 30, Edifício na Estrada da Vitória; Casas Moosa; St. Miguel Arcanjo Cemetery; the former site of Tarrafeiro market; and Carmo Fair (former site of Taipa Municipal Market).

IC is now conducting a public consultation for the classification of the aforementioned properties until 5th January, 2019, while a public consultation session will be conducted from 3:00pm to 5:00pm on 15th December in Macao Museum Auditorium. Related consultation papers can be obtained from Tap Seac Square Cultural Institute Building, IC public libraries, and Public Information Centre, or downloaded from the IC website at: www.culturalheritage.mo/survey/cbim2018.
