MGTO Names German Teen F3 Driver Goodwill Ambassador

Seventeen-year-old Formula 3 German racing driver Sophia Flörsch who suffered a spectacular accident at Lisboa Bend during the Macau Grand Prix race on 18th November was named Goodwill Ambassador by Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO). Before returning home on 26th November, the teenage driver expressed her gratitude for the care and treatment she had received in Macao and expressed her determination to continue to pursue her racing dream, pledging to return to the legendary Guia Circuit.

The female driver was named Goodwill Ambassador for the affection she showed for the city, receiving a plaque from MGTO Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, before heading back home.

On 21st November the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture of the Macao SAR Government also paid a visit to Flörsch in hospital and four other people injured during her severe accident, along with two British riders who had crashed while racing in the Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix to learn about their condition and wish them a swift recovery.


Suncity Group 65th Macau Grand Prix Attracts 83 Thousand Spectators

The Suncity Group 65th Macau Grand Prix - held from 15th to 18th November - attracted 83 thousand spectators. Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture and President of the Macau Grand Prix Organizing Committee (MGPOC) Alexis Tam announced that the mega event had been successfully concluded and that the MGPOC had continued to follow the guidelines of the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) in order to stage an exciting and safe event for both public and competitors.

This year’s event featured six thrilling races - namely, the FIA F3 World Cup; FIA GT World Cup; FIA WTCR Race; 52nd Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix; Macau Touring Car Cup; and Greater Bay Area Lotus Cup. British driver Daniel Ticktum drove the number 1 car to win the FIA F3 World Cup for the second time on 18th November following a dramatic tussle on the Guia circuit.
