Organised by Macao Government Tourism Office, the International Gastronomy Forum, Macao 2019 will be held from 19th to 21st January. The event will attract delegates from some 20 UNESCO Creative Cities (the majority of which are Creative Cities of Gastronomy) plus representatives from UNESCO, Mainland China, Macao and international experts to connect with and share their successful experiences.

New this year will be two days of cooking shows staged at Anim’Arte NAM VAN conducted by UNESCO Creative Cities of Gastronomy from around the world. On 19th and 20th January chefs from Creative Cities of Gastronomy, including Macao, will showcase the colours and flavours of their grastronomic culture to residents and visitors.

Themed ‘Possibilities of Gastronomy and Creativity’, Forum presentations and discussions will take place on 21st January. The programme includes keynote presentations by acclaimed chefs, a UNESCO Creative Cities of Gastronomy panel session, and a sharing of the experience of Macao in building a Creative City of Gastronomy in addition to a presentation on the research project ‘History of Food Culture-based Relations on the Silk Road’ developed within the Network plus discussions and more.

In addition to internal UNESCO Creative Cities Network meeting sessions, delegates will have the opportunity to tour the city, including local markets and visit some of the new developments in Macao for an in-depth experience of the host destination.

This will be the third edition of the International Gastronomy Forum and the second since the city joined the UNESCO Creative Cities Network in the field of Gastronomy in 2017. The Forum is an important platform for Macao to interact with other member cities of the Network as it builds itself as a Creative City of Gastronomy.
