With this year marking the 20th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Macao Special Administrative Region the city is set to pull out all the stops when it comes to celebrations! In addition, to welcome in the Chinese New Year this month Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) has organised a series of activities for residents and visitors to soak up the festive spirit, lining up promotional activities (in chronological order) in the United States, Taiwan region and Malaysia, among other places around the world, to spread the word far and wide. 

United States

PATA NY will host its annual Chinese New Year Banquet on 18th February in New York City, while MGTO USA will mix and mingle with top New York travel agents in addition to a variety of representatives from myriad travel entities.

Taiwan region

MGTO’s PR Consultant for the Taiwan region has organised mini marts in Kaohsiung, Taichung and Taipei from the 20th to 22nd February, extending invitations to Macao personnel and the local travel trade to participate in these events and discuss co-operation in 2019. Over 100 representatives from the Taiwan travel trade are expected at each mini mart. In addition, MGTO’s PR Consultant has organised a Spring luncheon and dinner in Taichung and Taipei on the 21st and 22nd February targeting the local travel trade and media representatives, during which information about the new developments in Macao tourism and promotional plans for 2019 will be announced.

Malaysia

MGTO Malaysia will host the visit of Malaysia’s renowned KOL & Celebrity Chef  Dato’ Fazley Yaakob and five media representatives to Macao to promote the city’s gastronomy, iconic attractions and Muslim-friendly activities.

During the trip, Dato’ Fazley will learn about Macao’s F&B trade operators, visit Muslim-oriented restaurants and famous attractions, following which his travel experiences will be captured as 5-minute videos to share with his many fans via social media. The media will also share their experiences through video, social media posts, print and online advertorial and TV broadcasting.
