Euromonitor International, the world’s leading independent provider of strategic market research, recently released its annual Top City Destinations Ranking in 2018, with Hong Kong continuing to rank first for the seventh consecutive year. Bangkok ranked second place followed by London, while Macao rises one position to fourth.

To calculate the respective rankings, Euromonitor International evaluated the inbound overnight visitor data of 100 of the world’s leading cities in terms of international visitor arrivals. Fifth to tenth positions were occupied by Singapore, Paris, Dubai, New York City, Kuala Lumpur and Shenzhen.

Euromonitor International revealed that 41 of the 100 cities ranked in the 100 Top City Destinations are Asian, demonstrating the region’s rapid growth and appeal. Moreover, due to the robust growth of Chinese visitors, the number of flights between cities has risen, with Macau International Airport opening the new north area of the Terminal in 2018 and international airports in Bangkok, Thailand, Singapore, Seoul and Korea also planning expansion.
