2019 Wushu Masters Challenge Kicks Off this Month

Jointly organised by the Sports Bureau and the Wushu General Association of Macau - and co-organised by Macao Government Tourism Office, the Cultural Affairs Bureau and Cultural Industry Fund - the 2019 Wushu Masters Challenge, a major annual martial arts event hosted by Macao, will be held from 1st to 4th August in various venues throughout the city. Wushu masters from the territory and around the world will compete against each other to promote Wushu development in Macao to enhance the understanding and appreciation of Wushu for residents and visitors alike.

The four-day programme comprises the Suncity Group ICKF World Combat Championship - Macao, ‘Belt and Road’ Dragon and Lion Dance Invitational Tournament, Sanda Challenger Competition, Wushu Summer Carnival, Wushu Summer Carnival, Wushu and Dragon and Lion Dance Parade and Closing Extravaganza. In addition, the Greater Bay Area Kickboxing Invitational Tournament, co-organised by Macao-China Kickboxing Federation, has been included in the programme for the first time.

Meanwhile, the Dragon and Lion Dance programme has attracted elite athletes from Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Myanmar, Vietnam, Mainland China, Hong Kong and Macao; the Sanda programme brings together athletes from Korea, Mainland China Foshan, Anhui and Macao.

Tickets for Suncity Group ICKF World Combat Championship - Macao and the Closing Extravaganza are being distributed free of charge from Tap Seac Multisport Pavilion from 9:00am to 8:00pm daily. With just a limited quantity available, residents and visitors are restricted to two tickets for both events per person. Other events are by free admission and open to the public and all Wushu enthusiasts.
