The Venetian Macau Open - sanctioned by the Asian Tour - will be held from the 23rd to 26th October at the Macau Golf and Country Club.

The 16th edition of the Venetian Macau Open, one of the highlights of the Asian Tour calendar, is jointly organised by Macau Sport Development Board of the Macau SAR Government and the Golf Association of Macau. It is sanctioned by both the Asian Tour and the Golf Association of Macau, and promoted by IMG. The Venetian Macao is the title sponsor of the event for the third consecutive year.

Among the highlights this year is China’s No. 1 golfer Liang Wen-chong and two-times Macau Open champion Zhang Lian-wei. The two venerated stars Miguel Angel Jiménez of Spain and Thailand’s Thongchai Jaidee have also announced that they will be competing at this year’s Venetian Macau Open. Former world number one Ernie Els has confirmed his return to the tournament, too.

Since its inauguration in 1998, the tournament has been graced by the presence of some of the best golfers the world has ever seen, including Lee Westwood, Colin Montgomerie, Nick Faldo, Padraig Harrington, Fred Couples, Ian Woosnam and Mark O’Meara. This year’s event boasts a total prize fund of US$900,000, an increase of 12.5% over last year.
