Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau co-hosted the 10th Pan-Pearl River Delta Regional Co-operation & Development Forum and Economic & Trade Fair (PPRD Forum) in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province on 12th & 13th October.

The Forum, opened in the Guangzhou Baiyun International Convention Centre, was presided over by Governor of Guangdong Province Zhu Xiaodan.

The opening ceremony of the 10th PPRD Forum – an exhibition of the decade-long achievements of regional co-operation – was followed by a high-level forum and meetings, a Chief Executive Joint Conference plus project presentations by the PPRD provinces and regions.

“E-meeting will be the new highlight during this Forum,” said Zhong Ming, the Deputy Director of the Guangdong Development and Reform Commission. “We will hold the Trade Fair on the Internet. Each member province can display their products online and finish projects matchmaking. A unified product and service market will thus be formed on the Internet. The Trade Fair will continuously exist and promote the economic interactions among the member provinces.”

Over the past nine years, the PPRD provinces and regions have signed agreements for more than 19,500 co-operative projects with a total investment of more than RMB3.76 trillion.

During the Forum, 780 projects were confirmed between Guangdong and other provinces through the e-meeting. The total value of projects reached RMB549.3 billion.

During the Forum, Chief Executive Chui Sai On revealed that he will chair the future ‘World Centre of Tourism and Leisure Development Committee’ in order to formulate and implement mid and long-term development plans. The optimisation and enhancement of joint overseas promotional activities will enhance the profile of tourist products in the region.
