Increased Visitor Arrivals for Golden Week

Macau hotels post 87% occupancy rate during National Day Golden Week

During the seven-day National Day Golden Week of 1st to 7th October, Macau Public Security Police Force recorded the number of arrivals, including foreign employees and students, etc., at more than 1.04 million, an increase of 16% over last year. By contrast, the 87% hotel occupancy rate represented a fall of 1.5% compared to the same period last year. Average room prices for 3 to 5-star hotels in Macau declined some 2.2% during the period. Of the 1.04 million-plus visitor arrivals, more than 840,000 comprised mainland visitors, an increase of 17%, while Hong Kong provided nearly 130,000 visitors.

The average room price for 3 to 5-star hotels dropped to MOP1,892 during Golden Week. The average price for guest houses was MOP667, up 8.4%; 2-star hotels charged MOP937, down 2.9%; 3-star hotel charged MOP1,654, down 6.8%; 4-star hotels charged MOP1,601, down 2.4%; and 5-star hotel charged MOP2,421, up 1.4%.
