Macau celebrates the Chinese New Year with great gusto. The territory is one of the best places to witness the spontaneous joyousness of this festival each year. One of the must-experience attractions is the long parade that many people love to bring their families to enjoy.

This year, Macau Government Tourist Office (MGTO), together with the Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau, will once again host the festive celebrations on the 19th & 20th February at the Ruins of St. Paul’s and Senado Square. A grand fireworks display will light up the night skies on the evening of 21st February, while the ‘Parade for the Celebration of the Year of the Goat’ will be held on 21st & 28th February.

Lunar New Year is a peak tourist season in Macau. Last year, Chinese New Year Golden Week recorded arrivals (including foreign employees and students) of more than 1.05 million, some 13 per cent more than the previous year. More than 770,000 Mainland visitors enjoyed the celebrations in the city, an increase of 23 per cent.

With the Parade growing in stature, MGTO will for the third year include the perennially popular Parade floats, in tandem with local and overseas performing groups. The word is now out via television and radio advertising, online promotions, print, newspapers, posters, leaflets, billboards, light boxes and bus advertising, inviting residents and visitors to join the Parade.
