The Quality Tourism Services Accreditation Scheme (QTSAS) will be further promoted on 2nd February, when Macau Government Tourist Office (MGTO) Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes and deputy director Cheng Wai Tong introduce the application method of the Quality Tourism Services Accreditation Scheme. K. T. Ting, general manager of the Hong Kong Quality Assurance Agency, will introduce the assessment criteria. In addition, companies awarded the 2014 Service Star Award will share their experiences with this year’s candidates.

MGTO launched the QTSAS scheme in April last year. Based on the category of licence - namely, Deluxe Restaurant, First Class Restaurant, Second Class Restaurant, and Food & Beverage Establishment - a total of 99 merchants entered the assessment process, with 86 qualified merchants receiving the Star Merchant Award or Service Star Award.

The tourism department will continue to harness the QTSAS scheme for the achievement of its long-term goal of lifting industry excellence and announced that it will extend the scheme to all of Macau’s tourism-related industries, with various training activities planned.
