Regular Macau-Phnom Penh Flights Take Off

The round-trip flight between Macau and Phnom Penh is twice weekly

Bassaka Air has joined hands with Wai Long Group to launch regular flight services between Macau and Phnom Penh, Cambodia with round-trip flights available every Monday and Friday. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on 28th May at Macau International Airport.

Wai Long Group said the flights not only provide a convenient service for passengers travelling between Macau and Cambodia but serve as a bridge for economic and cultural co-operation between the two regions. The Group will continue to work closely with other airlines to develop multiple markets and introduce more international flights to Macau, helping in the process to contribute to local economic development.

Bassaka Air said Cambodia has developed tourism opportunities in recent years by promoting world-famous attractions such as Angkor Wat, the Royal Palace, and the Chao Phraya River. In the first eleven months of last year, the country welcomed four million people, a 6 per cent increase on the same period in 2013, with the number of visitors from Hong Kong, Macau and Mainland China continuing to grow.

Bassaka Air first launched flights between Macau and Phnom Penh on 27th October 2014 with a twice weekly charter flight service. On 1st May this year, Bassaka Air started operating flights twice a week on a regular basis between Macau and Phnom Penh, flying at more than 60 per cent passenger capacity, sourced primarily from Mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau.

Bassaka, based in Phnom Penh International Airport, leases two Airbus A320 aircraft, each capable of carrying 150 passengers. The company has scheduled another new route from Phnom Penh to service Wuhan and Changsha in China from July this year.
