Guangdong and Macau Jointly Promote Multi-destination Travel in Singapore and Malaysia

‘Guangdong and Macau Sales Mission’ in Kuala Lumpur promotes the benefits of regional tourism
‘Macau Travel Fiesta’ in Singapore showcased Guangdong and Macau’s rich tourism resources

Macau Government Tourist Office (MGTO) in conjunction with the tourism administrations of Guangdong Province, the cities of Guangzhou, Zhongshan, Zhuhai and Shaoguan, along with the travel trade - a total of 60 representatives - travelled to Malaysia and Singapore for a 'Guangdong and Macau Sales Mission', held on 7th and 9th July, respectively. The promotion introduced to media and local tourism operators the attractions of multi-destination travel in order to collectively expand their overseas markets.

The Sales Mission first 'set up shop' in Kuala Lumpur, with activities including a face-to-face meeting with Malaysia's media for an in-depth understanding of Macau and Guangdong tourism. Business networking meetings with more than 100 Malaysian travel trade operators and a dinner were also arranged.

In Singapore, the main activity undertaken was the Macau Travel Fiesta, a product promotion and travel fair in which more than 70 representatives from Singapore tourism operators participated. Close to 100 guests attended a dinner, in addition to which MGTO convened with Singapore Tourism Board to discuss regional tourism co-operation opportunities.

The tourism authorities of Zhongshan, Zhuhai and Macau signed a Tourism Co-operation Memorandum in 2006 under the promotional theme of the Fragrant Hill region and historical links to Sun Yat-sen, creating in Mainland China and overseas a regional tourism 'brand', promoted to Southeast Asia and Europe. In addition, MGTO together with the Tourism Administration of Guangdong Province and Tourism Administration of Guangzhou Municipality visited London and Lisbon to promote multi-destination travel in 2013.
