MGTO Promotional Activities in August

MGTO participates in exchange event held in Hong Kong to strengthen industry communication
Tigerair Taiwan cabins are decorated with Macau-themed motifs

Macau Government Tourist Office (MGTO) is spreading the word far and wide in Malaysia and Thailand this month to enhance the international reputation of Macau and expand the number of international tourists visiting the territory. The Office is also holding an exchange event with the tourism industry in Hong Kong to promote Macau's latest tourism products whilst strengthening exchanges between the two places' tourism industry. Throughout the month, MGTO is also offering a taste of Macau to travellers on board of Tigerair Taiwan.

Taiwan

The Macau Government Tourist Office (MGTO) - together with Tigerair Taiwan - has embarked upon a two-month travel campaign effective 1st July and running until 30th August. The highlight of the campaign is that the cabins are decorated with Macau-themed motifs on headrest covers featuring Macanese cuisine and tourist sites. In addition, the special treat of pastel de nata, an egg tart pastry common in Portugal and in Macau, is being served. Also, Tigerair Taiwan and several travel agencies have jointly launched the 'Air ticket + wine' free exercise promotion whereby passengers holding Tigerair boarding passes can enjoy 10 per cent discounted tickets for City of Dreams' 'House of Dancing Water' show.

During the event period, MGTO is promoting these activities via different media to extend Macau tourist information coverage to northern and southern Taiwan. The campaign employs the Internet media of Yahoo, Facebook, Google and Youtube; radio media employs the UFO Network, 983 BEST RADIO, Kiss Radio; the Upaper and Taipei MRT are also carrying advertising as are LED billboards at the night markets in Kaohsiung Ruifeng and Shinkuchan.

Malaysia

MGTO will hold the promotional 'Macau Explorer' event in Kuala Lumpur downtown township area out of the city centre from 7th to 9th August. The six pillars of this campaign - featuring Lifestyle, Entertainment, Extreme Experience, Modern Life, Heritage and Luxury - targets young adventure enthusiasts who like to travel with a group of friends with the same interests, a family segment who always seek holiday destinations suitable for kids, as well as food lovers and travellers who appreciate the architectural design of heritage and modern buildings in Macau.

From 21st to 23rd August, the Malaysian representatives of MGTO will participate in the MATTA Fair Melaka at MITC, Melaka. In order to promote Macau as a top-of-mind destination suitable for the whole family, working professionals, adventurous young adults, food lovers, retirees and silver age group, the one-stop consumer event will offer great holiday and travel bargains through respected participating travel agents. The MY Macau Facebook fan page will also be continuously promoted through the interactive photo booth, whereby the public can snap and share photos on their social media platform as well as showcasing Macau promotional video throughout the 3-day travel fair. In addition, travel agents participating in the travel fair will provide promotional materials and gift redemptions for every Macau and Pearl River Delta package redemption in order to entice more visitors to purchase Macau packages.

Thailand

MGTO is participating in the 17th Thai International Travel Fair, the most popular travel fair in Thailand, organized by the Thai Travel Agents Association from 13th to 16th August in the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre. This event seeks to promote outbound tourism from Thailand and create marketing opportunities for members. The MGTO booth will offer games, interactive digital screen, promotional video and giveaways designed to improve visibility and create awareness among Thai travellers, to drive more visitors to nearby Macau.

Hong Kong

The Hong Kong representatives of MGTO will organize a 'Hong Kong and Macau Travel Trade Networking Meeting' on 21st August. This event seeks to provide a platform for Hong Kong travel agents to connect with Macau trading partners, enhancing mutual co-operation in addition to informing Hong Kong travel agents about unfolding Macau tourism developments. As well as targeting the front line and product development staff of major travel agents in Hong Kong, the initiative targets newly established travel agents in tandem with Macau's chief wholesaling and retailing services.

In addition, MGTO is participating in the 'China Shandong International Travel Fair' in Jinan, Shandong Province, China from 28th to 30th August.
