Spaniard Plácido Domingo, the world's most acclaimed operatic virtuoso, took to the Macau stage for the first time with his hand-picked artists accompanied by the distinguished Macau Orchestra, organized under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau and the Macau Government Tourist Office, with the support of MGM MACAU. The sumptuous occasion was the concert 'Domingo and Macau Orchestra', which played to a packed audience on 29th August in the Macau Cultural Centre's Grand Auditorium.

Renowned worldwide as one of the 'Three Tenors' with the late Italian Luciano Pavarotti and Spaniard José Carreras, Plácido Domingo has shone in more than 144 different opera roles. He has performed many classics and his albums have sold more than a million copies. He has also been honoured by 12 Grammy Awards.

Plácido Domingo's loud penetrating voice has been variously described, even as soft as 'velvet'. Britain, the United States, and France, among others, have bestowed awards on him for his musical talent and a lifetime's contribution to music.
