Macau International Airport Passenger Volume Surpasses 510,000 in July

Airport arrivals in the first half increased 2.5 per cent

Airport operator CAM has announced that Macau International Airport (MIA) has posted an increase in both passenger traffic volume and aircraft movements for the month of July. Regarding the traffic volume in that month, passenger volume exceeded 510,000, representing a year-on-year increase of 3.6 per cent, while over 4,800 aircraft movements were recorded, a 10.7 per cent increase compared to the same period last year. Currently, East Asian airline passengers occupy more than 40 per cent of the whole market, followed by the Mainland and Taiwan China, which represent 34 per cent and 26 per cent, respectively.

Macau-Haiphong route launched

In addition, on 21st August Jetstar Pacific Airline added the new routes of Macau-Haiphong in Vietnam, and also plans to launch Ho Chi Minh City flights to Macau. Other new routes are under discussion. The total passenger volume of the first half year is more than 2.78 million, representing a year-on-year increase of 6.6 per cent. Over 27,000 aircraft movements were recorded, a 6.9 per cent increase compared to the same period last year.

The Statistical Information System of Macau (DSEC) showed that visitors in the first half year decreased 3.5 per cent to 15,230,000 passengers, with Mainland passengers decreasing 4.2 per cent. In the period, airport visitors increased 2.5 per cent to 986,000, while Mainland passengers increased 5.9 per cent to over 54.4 per cent of total visitation. Taiwanese and Korean passengers using MIA to enter the territory increased 1.6 per cent and 15.7 per cent, respectively. They represented 22.8 per cent and 4.3 per cent, respectively, of all passengers.
