‘The Salvation Army Orienteering@Macau’ participants from Hong Kong will explore the territory’s diverse cityscape

In October, Macau Government Tourist Office (MGTO) will continue to initiate and participate in an array of promotional programmes in Thailand, Macau, Hong Kong, USA, Germany, Australia, Taiwan and Malaysia. The activities include orienteering, a live broadcast programme from Macau to Australia, a Macau 3D Mapping Show in Berlin, along with participation in seminars and travel missions, and much more.

Thailand

In the 'Incentive Travel & Convention, Meetings Asia 2015' (IT&CMA) - held from 29th September to 1st October in Bangkok - MGTO will collaborate with a group of travel trade representatives from 33 Macau entities to further the development of tourism business co-operation.

Macau

The Salvation Army Orienteering@Macau - an event comprising the diverse elements of sport, travel and charity activities - will enable both beginners and the orienteering elite from Hong Kong to experience a fun but meaningful weekend starting 17th October in Macau. The core concept is all about raising funds for the Salvation Army community services in Hong Kong and Macau, whilst navigating the picturesque Portuguese cobbled stone paving of Macau as well as the territory's unique historical and cultural gems.

In addition, Sydney radio station 2UE from Australia will broadcast its programmes live from Macau for the first time. Popular radio commentator Tim Webster will broadcast his Saturday and Sunday segments for 2UE from a specially-built studio in the Conrad Macao on 17th and 18th October. In the lead-up to the broadcasts, Tim and his fellow 2UE broadcaster and videographer will capture on film the best of Macau, to be seen via its online site. Tim, who is also a TV celebrity, will interview a range of locals and Australian businessmen prior to and during the two-day broadcast.

Hong Kong

The MGTO Hong Kong Representative will deliver the 'Macau Tourism Overview and Outlook Seminar' to over 100 Leisure and Tourism Management students from the Community College of City University on 5th October, introducing the latest tourism developments of Macau in addition to MGTO's support of student excursions as part of its initiative to promote Macau as an ideal student excursion destination.

USA

The MGTO USA Representative has partnered with the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) to host the 'HKTB/MGTO MSAR Travel Mission' in New York City on 6th October and in Los Angeles on 8th October, presenting Macau to select US travel agents and operators. In addition, an exclusive evening cocktail reception will unite 20 Hong Kong and Macau tourism partners such as premier hotels, tours, and attractions in a relaxed networking atmosphere, where they will learn what makes Hong Kong and Macau such an attractive double act for tourists.

MGTO together with Macau Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) plus a group of 13 travel trade representatives will attend IMEX America 2015 in Las Vegas from 13th to 15th October, utilising this opportunity to introduce and promote the most updated business tourism information and products of Macau, whilst burnishing the city's long-term objective of transforming itself into a World Centre of Tourism and Leisure.

Germany

MGTO will stage a large-scale profile-branding promotion in Berlin, the booming German capital. Themed 'Touching Moments', a Macau 3D Mapping Show will be part of the famous festival from 9th to 18th October, featuring a stunning show portraying the cultural and tourism elements of Macau via its emblematic lotus flower - all projected onto the façade of the historic Hôtel de Rome, a landmark building in the Berlin city centre. The Macau 3D Mapping Show will be presented for ten consecutive days, every evening from 7:00pm to midnight in 20-minute intervals, representing some 150 'screenings' during the entire festival.

The presentation will be accompanied by many promotional activities. The MGTO head office delegation, headed by Deputy Director Cecilia Tse, will host a dinner function for selected trade and media guests with a reception at the Hôtel de Rome, which will include a ceremonial Macau Mapping Show 'buzzer' launching the event and a special VIP Light Seeing Tour for top partners and influencers. There are also plans for a roundtable media talk with Berlin-based journalists as well as various media promotions.

Australia

The MGTO Australia Representative will be a main sponsor of the 17th annual 'Sydney Night Noodles Market' with the special message 'Come to Macau and try what tantalising delights we have to serve', to be held in leafy Hyde Park from 9th to 25th October. MGTO will enlighten the crowd with its many attributes at a pavilion fronted by a recreation of the Ruins of St Paul's along with tables and chairs, lanterns and information booth. This major event on the city's calendar is expected to attract an even bigger attendance than last year's recording-breaking 550,000 with Macau the exclusive international tourism body.

Taiwan

MGTO will attend the '2015 Taichung International Travel Fair' (TITF) organized by Taichung County Travel Agency Association, which will be held from 16th to 19th October in the World Trade Centre, Taichung. MGTO will co-operate with five travel agencies and set up a booth in the Fair to promote and sell Macau products and packages.

Malaysia

The MGTO Malaysia Representative will hold the 'Experience Macau' activities in the Pavilion Kuala Lumpur from 27th to 29th October. The outdoor area will replicate Senado Square with cascading water fountain at the main entrance, while the main concourse area will be utilised to promote different exciting Macau attractions such as the ongoing 10th Anniversary of the Historic Centre of Macao celebrations, whose iconic landmarks are included on UNESCO's World Heritage List. Major events and festivals, and unique cuisine will feature, as will travel agencies offering special travel packages to the public. In addition, a dedicated travel agent will offer a Grand China package to promote the Belt and Road Iniative, which seeks to tie Macau into multi-destination tourism.

Throughout the event, various activities will engage the public - from experiencing exciting Grand Prix Simulator racing on Macau's fabled race track to tasting Macau's local delicacies, while advocates will share unforgettable experiences of exploring the city that never sleeps.
