‘Macau Tourism Industry Development Master Plan’ Slated to be Completed by 2017

The Macau Tourism Development Master Plan is expected to progress preparation for public consultation next year

Macau Government Tourist Office (MGTO) has assigned the draft of the Macau Tourism Industry Development Master Plan Service Provision to AECOM Asia, following an international public tender, with the contracted MOP18,350,000 to be paid in instalments. Currently, it plans to progress preparation for public consultation, envisaging that the final plan will be completed in 2017.

MGTO said AECOM Asia was rated the highest score in the international public tender, based on criteria such as the company's knowledge of the work content, implementation methods, price, related experience and so forth. A total of 13 tenders was received.

MGTO intends to initiate a comprehensive plan for the development of tourism in Macau for the short-term (within five years), the medium term (ten years) and long term (fifteen years). The Tourism Development Master Plan will include development objectives and strategies, analyses of tourism resources, tourism product planning, tourism marketing strategy, tourism image and brand building, tourism and the application of innovative technology, quality and service system of tourism planning, tourism industry planning and urban development, tourism development co-operation system, and international and regional tourism co-operation, with three possible scenarios and work recommendations.
