MGTO Launches ‘Experience Macau Carnival’ Roadshow in Hong Kong

‘Experience Macau Carnival’ Roadshow highlights myriad festive events

Macau Government Tourist Office (MGTO) rolled out the 'Experience Macau Carnival' Roadshow in Hong Kong on 12th and 13th September. To attract more visitors to Macau, the roadshow particularly promoted the 62nd Macau Grand Prix and the 'Parade through Macao, Latin City' as well as other upcoming events and festivals lined up for the last quarter of the year. Featuring exhibitions and themed booths with interactive fun, the Carnival enabled Hong Kong citizens to savour some of Macau's festive vibes in advance.

MGTO Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, Deputy Director Cecilia Tse, Macau Grand Prix (MGP) Committee Co-ordinator João Manuel Costa Antunes and the Vice-President of Macau Sport Development Board, Lao Cho Un, officiated at the opening ceremony of the 'Experience Macau Carnival' Roadshow together with MGTO personnel and other Grand Prix Committee members.

To tie in MGTO's promotion of the 'Step Out, Experience Macau's Community' walking routes, the roadshow was themed 'Photos - Macau' in order to encourage the public to explore Macau through interactive photo booths, such as the Macau 3D Photo Booth, Macau Magic Photo Booth, Ruins of St. Paul Lego® Model booth and Grand Prix Gas Station Instant Photo Booth. Visitors were encouraged to share their memorable moments of Macau with family and friends by posting their photos on social media.

The roadshow featured three highlight exhibitions themed 'Step Out, Experience Macau's Community', '10th Anniversary of the Inscription of 'The Historic Centre of Macao' on the World Heritage List' and 'Macau Grand Prix'. Subsequently, the Roadshow dramatically displayed classic Formula 3 racing cars in tandem with Hong Kong actress Chrissie Chau's race car entered into November's Celebrity Cup Race for the first time. Visitors could also try their hand at racing around the narrow Guia Circuit on a Grand Prix simulator, which was very well patronised!

During the Roadshow, MGTO co-operated with six travel agencies in Hong Kong to offer special travel packages to Macau with exclusive offers, encouraging Hong Kong citizens to experience a small but fascinating city just brimming with festive events in the remaining months of 2015.
