22 Hotels under Construction, 224 MICE Events in 2Q 2015

According to the Land, Public Works and Transport Bureau, some 12,523 rooms came on-stream in the second quarter. The overall area of guestrooms and the quantity of guestrooms increased. In addition, 224 MICE events translated into a year-on-year increase of 54. However, since large exhibitions have declined in number, participants dropped by 21.7 per cent for some 405,000 people.

Of 22 hotel projects under construction, 13 projects will offer 979 guestrooms in Macau; six projects will provide 10,244 guestrooms in Cotai; two projects will offer 1,064 guestrooms in Taipa; and one project will provide 236 guestrooms in Coloane.

A total of 30 projects are still on the drawing board and can provide around 8,628 guestrooms when completed. There are 24 projects with 3,153 guestrooms in Macau; one project with 126 guestrooms in Taipa; 3 projects with 4,881 guestrooms in Cotai; while two projects are slated to provide 468 guestrooms in Coloane.

There were 208 MICE events in the second quarter, an increase, year-on-year, of 56. Some 21,215 people participated, an increase of 25.5 per cent. MICE events that attracted 200 or more attendees increased by three to 23, while participants increased 14.5 per cent. The average duration was 2.2 days.

In addition, 16 MICE events were organized by non-government organizations, down two, year-on-year. Some 383,767 attendees represented a decrease of 23.3 per cent; meanwhile, eight MICE events attracted 20,000 or more people, down four events year-on-year. Visitors decreased by 27.6 per cent, while the average duration was 3.2 days.


St. Regis Hotel Accepting Reservations

St. Regis Macao Cotai Central is slated to open in December 2015, providing 400 luxury guestrooms occupying 53 to 477 square metres, with most guests able to enjoy views of the Cotai Strip. The 5-star hotel is now open for reservation starting from 17th December at room rates of MOP2,688 up.


Louis XIII Employees Receive Butler Training in Paris

Louis XIII, now under construction, is expected to open in Summer 2016. Recently, the luxury hotel sent several of its Macau personnel to Paris for butler training, where they were inculcated in the manner and service skills necessary for the superior services the company is to build its reputation on.
