Government Establishes Committee for World Centre of Tourism and Leisure

The government established a committee for the development of Macau into a World Centre of Tourism and Leisure on 29th October, chaired by MSAR Chief Executive Chui Sai On. The committee's remit is to design and conduct policies to develop the city into a World Centre of Tourism and Leisure. It is charged with co-ordinating the development of a World Centre of Tourism and Leisure in order to build a future based on a five-year development plan for Macau, with the medium-term goal the establishment of a regular annual monitoring system and the introduction of guidelines on related issues.

The committee has nine other members, three of whom are the Secretary for Economy and Finance, Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture, and Secretary for Transport and Public Works. They are working with Chief-of-Office of the Office of the Chief Executive, the Spokesperson of the Government, on behalf of the two representatives from the Office of the Chief Executive and Policy Research Office. If necessary, the chairman of the committee may invite representatives from other public or private entities and experts to participate in the work or meeting of the committee. Costs associated with the operation committee plus administrative, technical and logistical support is to be met by the Office of the Chief Executive.
