The 15th Macau City Fringe - coming to the city from 1st to 15th November - brings with it dozens of impressive artists seeking to fill the territory with their creativity. The 31 programmes feature 76 performances, in myriad categories including a grand parade, dance, drama, music, arts exhibition, painting, puppetry, interactive installations, workshops, movie, circus, guided tours, lectures, school arts touring programme, writing and volunteer training. Performers have come from Portugal, France, Germany, Brazil, Spain, Belgium, the Mainland, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau.

The Fringe pays close attention to the arts community and environmental development, and this year launches programmes addressing 'marine pollution' and 'the protection of birds and trees' as the theme of 'The Ocean and Community Arts Project' and the 'The Woodsman' parental outdoor theatre. The Fringe will also serve to increase co-operation between the local artistic community and visiting artists, thereby enhancing the level of development of local artists.

Macau City Fringe was started in 1999, draws inspiration from the special ambience of the city, and catches idiosyncratic performances with a heavy dose of whimsy by foreign and local artists in dozens of different venues, employing unexpected performance techniques to inspire the public to create a Macau of creative thinking, whilst nurturing local artistic and creative talent.

Tickets, at MOP50, are necessary for some of the programmes, and can be purchased from Macau Ticketing (www.macauticket.com/TicketWeb/Default.aspx?c=en-us).
