Macau Charisma Showcased via Integration of Culture, Sport and Tourism

To showcase the multifaceted appeal of Macau, Macau Sport Development Board and the Cultural Affairs Bureau are organizing a number of events on 6th December, including the Macau International Marathon and Parade through Macao, Latin City. In addition, Macau Government Tourist Office (MGTO) has invited participants of the Marathon and Parade to join a seasonal dinner. By integrating culture, sport and tourism elements, the government hopes to offer a unique experience and memory for residents and visitors by the synergistic effect generated by these mega events.

Macau International Marathon kicks off at 6:00am on 6th December from the Olympic Sports Centre Stadium in Taipa. Since this year also marks the 10th Anniversary of the inscription of 'The Historic Centre of Macao' on the UNESCO World Heritage List the Marathon course will pass by A-Ma Temple and the University of Macau's Hengqin Campus. The Cultural Affairs Bureau will also display boards detailing information about The Historic Centre of Macao in order to enable athletes to experience Macau's unique combination of tourism, culture and sports. The Parade through Macau, Latin City - held on the same day as the Macau International Marathon - starts at 4:00pm from the Ruins of St. Paul's. This year, the Parade passes through Travessa da Paixão, St. Anthony's Square, Rua de D. Belchior Carneiro, Rua dos Artilheiros, Rua de Sanches de Miranda, Calçada da Igreja de S. Lázaro, Santa Casa da Misericordia Albergue, Rua de S. Roque, Rua Nova de S. Lázaro, Adro de S. Lázaro, Rua do Volong, Rua do Tap Seac and Rua de Afonso de Albuquerque. At 5:30pm, the Parade will assemble at Tap Seac Square with a celebration of the handover of Macau. As well as participating in the Parade, visitors can watch it on giant TV screens erected in Senado Square, Rotunda de Carlos da Maia, Jardim Areia Preta and Rua de D. Belchior Carneiro. In addition, MGTO will host a dinner for Marathon and Parade participants on the evening of the same day featuring stage performances and playback of the Parade video.

The 'Macao Light Festival 2015 - Journey of Lights' jointly organized by MGTO and the Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau also unfolds in the evening.
