‘Macao Tourism Industry Development Master Plan’ Wraps up First Stage of Research

MGTO has completed the first of four stages of the 'Macao Tourism Industry Development Master Plan'

Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) has completed the first of four stages of the 'Macao Tourism Industry Development Master Plan'. The first stage comprises questionnaires and field surveys, expert workshops, interviews, case studies and other information. Conducted between 24th June and 24th November 2015, this stage seeks an in-depth understanding of Macao's tourism industry status and background, as well as analysis of Macao tourism development's major problems and constraints.

The first stage report analyzes the current status of the work of Macao's tourism development, tourism product system, tourism quality and service system, the tourism industry and urban development, tourism development co-operation system, international and regional co-operation in tourism, tourism resources and innovative technology applications, as well as identifying Macao's city image/urban brand positioning, and has a Macao tourism market survey and forecasts of future development. The report also proposes a programme of action of various tourism development needs by priority.

The second stage, which will be undertaken from December 2015 to August 2016, includes a deeper plan and public consultation.The 'Macao Tourism Industry Development Master Plan' has been undertaken to help support the MSAR Government's goal of building a World Centre of Tourism and Leisure. Envisioned as an overall plan for the short, medium and long-term development of the Macao tourism industry, it formulates a comprehensive and integrated work scheme for the tourism industry and MGTO itself.
