Four Recipients Awarded Medal of Merit - Tourism

The MSAR Government awarded 63 individuals and organizations Decorations, Medals and Certificate of Merit in 2015 in recognition of their achievements, outstanding contributions and distinguished services to the MSAR. Among the recipients, four were awarded the Medal of Merit - Tourism; namely, Macau International Airport Co. Ltd., The Plaza Restaurant, Federal Restaurant, and tourism industry veteran O Hoi Fan. The awards ceremony was held on 7th December.

Macau International Airport (MIA) is an important platform for Macao and the international market, and Macau International Airport Co. Ltd. has vigorously promoted and marketed MIA to the worldwide aviation community in the course of the past 20 years. Providing world-class service quality is a top corporate priority, and remains the cornerstone of CAM's ongoing efforts to improve passenger and cargo services and facilities.

The Plaza Restaurant, established in 1993, has built a reputation for its award-winning cooking over the past two decades in the local community and overseas, helping promote Macao to a worldwide audience. In recent years, it has also been selected as a member of the 'Advanced Collective of Central Enterprises' by the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC) and awarded 'International Famous Restaurant for Chinese Cuisine' by the World Association of Chinese Cuisine.

Federal Restaurant, established in 1988, has for decades been recognized for its innovative Cantonese dishes, and won the 'Service Star Award' by the Macao Government Tourism Office. The restaurant's chefs have won various awards and promoted Macao to overseas markets, helping in turn to develop the industry.

O Hoi Fan, who has worked in China Travel Service (Macao) Ltd. since 1988, is now chairman of the company. A member of the MSAR Government Tourist Development Committee, she is also a respected veteran of the Macao tourism industry. Over the course of many years, she has actively co-operated with and promoted the development of the Guangdong-Macao tourism industry, as well as putting Macao squarely on the tourism map.
