St. Regis Hotels & Resorts, part of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc., has announced the much-awaited debut of The St. Regis Macao, Cotai Central, which opened on 18th December 2015. The St. Regis Macao, the brand's seventh in Greater China, represents its 36th property in the world and comprises 38 floors, 400 lavishly appointed guestrooms and suites ranging from 53 to 477 square metres, and commands sweeping views of the dazzling Cotai district.

“There is an ever-increasing demand for luxury around the globe and Macau is no exception, especially with the recent proliferation of luxury brands in the market." said Jim Petrus, Global Brand Leader, St. Regis Hotels & Resorts.

The opening of The St. Regis Macao expands the complex known as Cotai Central - the other integrated resorts of which include the Conrad, Sheraton and Holiday Inn hotels - which collectively provide more than 6,200 hotel rooms and suites, as well as a wide variety of branded retail, dining and entertainment facilities.

Stephen Ho, President, Asia Pacific, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. noted that: “After ten years of rapid development, the Cotai Strip has elevated its status to a world-class tourism destination. The second phase of the Cotai Strip will offer a much more diversified experience for a new generation of luxury visitors, and St. Regis is delighted to be a part of that continued growth momentum."

Together with the upcoming opening of The Parisian Macao in September this year, the group will offer some 13,000 hotel rooms in Cotai, with air-conditioned walkways linking different hotels and over a thousand retail outlets and variety theatre.

Legendary tipple

The St. Regis Macao houses the signature St. Regis Bar, an elegant space to indulge in a selection of fine wines and spirits, as well as the hotel's twist on the legendary Bloody Mary cocktail, which was first created at the brand's flagship hotel in New York in the early 1900s. Called the Maria do Leste ('Mary of the East'), the potent local concoction fuses classic ingredients with spices that Portuguese sailors originally brought to Macau, such as pink peppercorns, piri-piri and cinnamon.
