21st Macau Myanmar Overseas Chinese Water Festival

The 21st Macau Myanmar Overseas Chinese Water Festival - hosted by the Macau Association of Mutual Help of Myanmar Overseas Chinese from 22nd to 24th April - features tourism business promotion, photography exhibition, parade, blessing parade, Myanmar and Southeast Asian Food Carnival, folk dance show, salon photography and the fun-filled, water-splashing Thingyan Festival, which celebrates the Burmese New Year.

This year, the activity will introduce the tourism attractions of the two cities of Ruijin and Ji'an in Jiangxi Province, The Jiangxi Tourism Promotion activity will be held at 4:00pm in The Plaza Restaurant on 22nd April, and is followed by the Photography Exhibition introducing these two cities in the first floor gallery of The Plaza Restaurant from 22nd to 25th April whereby visitors can learn more about the rich tourism resources of Jiangxi Province.

The highlight event is the Parade at 10:00am, 2:00pm on 23rd April and at 10:00am on 24th April starting from the Hotline Centre in Alameda Dr. Carlos d'Assumpção in Macao, from which it will wend its way to Taipa and Coloane offering blessings to the public.

The Blessing Parade will start at 1:30pm on 23rd April from the Three Lamps District (Rotunda de Carlos da Maia), go along Rua da Restauração, Est. de Adolfo Loureiro, Rua da Barca, Rua de Pedro Coutinho, and Rua de Fernão Mendes Pinto before returning to the Three Lamps District. The popular Myanmar and Southeast Asian Food Carnival and Folk Dance Show will be held from 3:00pm to 8:00pm in the Three Lamps District on the same day.

Another main activity of the Burmese Thingyan Festival will be held at 3:00pm on 24th April in Hác Sá Park in Coloane, presenting an opportunity for the public to splash water with girls dressed in the costumes of all the ethnic groups of Myanmar, in addition to praying and enjoying dance performances to add to the fun. At 10:30am, the salon photography event will doubtless attract more people to take photos on the scenic shorefront of Hác Sá Park.
