125 More MICE Events Last Year

A total of 909 MICE events were held in 2015

Data from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicates that for the whole year of 2015 a total of 909 MICE events were held. Meetings and conferences totalled 831, up 125 year-on-year although the total number of participants decreased by 10 per cent to 88,189 owing to a decline in the number of conference participants.

Analysed by size, meetings and conferences with 200 or more participants (109) rose by nine, while the number of participants (51,303) dropped by 23 per cent. The average duration of the meetings and conferences was 2.1 days, down 0.2 days, while total floor area used decreased by 6.5 per cent to 356,549 square metres.

Meanwhile, exhibitions decreased by nine year-on-year to 78 (74 were organized by non-government organizations), and the number of attendees dropped by 3.8 per cent to 2,393,461. Some 40 exhibitions occupied a floor area of 3,500 square metres or more, some 81.1 per cent of the available space. The average duration of the exhibitions was 3.3 days, as in 2014.
