MISE - Macau Meetings, Incentives and Special Events Association - has been newly launched in Macao. The president of the executive board, Todd Cai, said that the Association will promote Macao as a good destination for Incentive Tourism, Meetings Tourism and International Events. The Association will also work with educational institutions in order to promote programmes related to Incentive Tourism, Meetings Tourism and International Events.

Cai also mentioned that the costs of Macao meeting venues are much higher compared with neighbouring areas, but Macao's advantage is that it can solve different problems within one place; for example, one hotel can hold both conferences and provide accommodation, enabling all participants to stay in the same hotel. The development of Macao MICE is still in low gear, although Macao has been expanding the MICE area for the past two years, whilst upgrading the industry's competitiveness. On the one hand, it relates to both Macao and the region's economic development. On the other, Macao is still a new MICE destination for the international market; thus, the international MICE market does not understand the local market. The aim of the Association, therefore, is to promote Macao to the international MICE market, and let the world understand Macao's MICE offering market better.
