MGTO to attend UNWTO meetings in June in Japan

The Joint Commission Meeting will be held in Nara, Japan in June

The 28th Joint Meeting of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Commission for East Asia and the Pacific and the UNWTO Commission for South Asia & UNWTO Conference on Tourism and Technology will be held in Nara, Japan from the 1st – 4th June 2016, both of which will be attended by representatives of Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO).

This year, the key topics will include UNWTO´s Programme of Work for the Region, Tourism and Ethics, International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development 2017, ST-EP International Organization, Tourism and Security and other statutory issues related to the UNWTO Asia-Pacific Member States.

The Joint Commission Meeting will be held in conjunction with a one-day International conference on Tourism and Technology, which will examine the current emerging technologies that are of primary relevance to the tourism sector. The conference will also seek to raise awareness in other sectors of the economy regarding the necessity and opportunities for new technological applications in different sectors of tourism.

Last year, the Joint Commission Meeting was attended by over 60 representatives from UNWTO Member States and more than 30 UNWTO Affiliate Members.
