IC Contemplate Introduction of Street Performances

Council members discussed the proposal to introduce street performers

The Advisory Council of Culture recently hosted a plenary meeting to discuss various topics, including the proposal on street performances. In the meeting, the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) stated that IC is studying the possibility of introducing 'street performances'. It was posited that the implementation of 'street performances' would serve as a highly visible platform for local performers to showcase their talent, as well as satisfying the needs of local residents for more culture in their daily lives, while increasing the offer of outdoor leisure performing entertainment to visitors.

Members discussed criteria, evaluation mechanism, elements of assessment, application process, and recommended actions among other topics, proceeding to the hearing of views of members of the Council. Most members support the initiative and agree that street performances can help showcase the characteristics of the city.
