Labour Day Holiday Visitors Increase 4.8 Per Cent

Taiwan region visitors posted the strongest increase

According to the statistics of the Public Security Police Force, Macao recorded 529,000 visitor arrivals (including non-resident workers and students) during the Labour Day holiday period in Mainland China spanning 30th April to 2nd May, an increase of 4.8 per cent compared over last year (from 1st to 3rd May). Greater China posted decent growth, with visitors from Mainland China increasing 7.3 per cent, while visitors from Hong Kong rose 3.5 per cent and the Taiwan region 12.5 per cent.

Regarding hotel occupancy, the average 3 to 5-star hotel occupancy rate exceeded 92 per cent, an increase of 1.8 per cent year-on-year. The average room price of MOP1,408.30 represented a decrease of 13 per cent year-on-year. Meanwhile, 5-star hotels from 30th April to 1st May posted over 99 per cent occupancy rate; the average occupancy rate of 2-star hotels was 81 per cent, up 7.1 per cent year-on-year.
