MGTO Promotional Activities in July

The dinner will serve as an opportunity to strengthen hoteliers’ understanding of Macao tourism

July is the high season for Summer tourism, with Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) holding a series of promotional activities in Hong Kong, Thailand and Malaysia to attract visitors to Macao to celebrate the holiday break.

Hong Kong

To attract more Hong Kong visitors to visit Macao during Summer, MGTO's Hong Kong representative will hold the 'Experience Macao Your Own Style' Mini-roadshow at Hollywood Plaza on 1st and 2nd July. This event seeks to promote Macao Summer Activities, mega events, 'Anim'Arte NAM VAN', and the latest Summer promotions, including food stalls showcasing popular Macanese delicacies. MGTO will co-operate with six travel agents to provide special travel packages including 'exclusive' discounts and offers for ferry tickets and hotel accommodation in a bid to attract Hong Kong visitors to Macao.

In addition, MGTO is hosting a Product Update Luncheon on 4th July for 20 committee members of the Hong Kong Parent-Teacher Association at Cordis Hotel, Hong Kong with a view to introducing Macao's cultural heritage, academic exchanges, rapid tourism development and the importance of green resources. The luncheon will also be an opportunity to build strategic relationships with this Association promoting Macao as a study tour destination via its extensive network in the education field.

A Dinner & Presentation for Concierges & Front Office Managers will be held on 8th July at the Mira. The event is tailored for some Hong Kong and Macao hotel and Clubhouse concierges and front office managers to update information on Macao's new attractions and latest developments. The occasion will also serve to mobilize their support to promote Macao and provide better service to hotel guests.

MGTO is also hosting the Product Update Luncheon at Club Lusitano on 29th July for key representatives of major chambers in Hong Kong. They will receive the latest updates on Macao tourism developments and the newest incentive products available in Macao, as well as details of MGTO's Travel Stimulation Programme.

Thailand

MGTO will attend the Thailand International Travel Fair (TITF) from 14th to 17th July. TITF is the largest travel fair for the outbound market in Thailand and promotes the Thai tourism industry among its members via 800 booths manned by travel agents, airline staff and other related organizations displaying their products and services over the years. MGTO will highlight the Macao Grand Prix, with Macao showcased as a trendy and creative destination for Thai travellers.

Malaysia

The MGTO Malaysia representative will co-operate with the Malaysia-China Chamber of Commerce (MCCC) to advertise in its Malaysia-China Business Magazine featuring and promoting Macao MICE facilities, events and festivals for the third and fourth quarter. The primary purpose of this advertising is to target the members of MCCC, entrepreneurs and business leaders from Malaysia and China.

In conjunction with the Malaysia International Travel Mart (MITM), MGTO is taking the opportunity to run a TVC campaign on 8TV - Malaysia's No.1 Chinese TV Channel - featuring its 'Experience Macao Your Own Style' video, promoting Macao as the destination for a short escape with friends and family members. The TVC will sell Macao products during the travel fair to encourage the public to purchase Macao and Pearl River Delta packages from their preferred travel agent.

MGTO will also feature 'Experience Macao Your Own Style' visuals of destination Macao by wrapping monorail pillars and arches at key locations in the city centre. The pillar arch has an average 1.3 million foot traffic and 2 million vehicle viewers monthly. These will target working adults from the nearby corporate offices and the public who use the main road to the city centre, in addition to encouraging the public to travel to Macao during the coming September school holidays and year-end holiday seasons in November and December.
