Preparations Underway for 28th Macao International Fireworks Display Contest

The 28th Macao International Fireworks Display Contest will open in September

Preparations are underway for the 28th Macao International Fireworks Display Contest to be held above the sea area adjoining Macau Tower for five nights - on the 3rd, 10th, 15th and 24th September and the Republic of China's National Day on 1st October, featuring stunning fireworks displays by ten teams from Asia, Europe and North America.

Lined up once again for the contest this year are globally acclaimed pyrotechnic companies; in order of appearance in the contest they are Thailand, Portugal, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Japan, Korea, Italy, Canada, Rumania and China. This is the first time that the contest has featured a team from Rumania. The Japanese and Korean teams will present their fireworks shows on 15th September, the Mid-Autumn Festival, whilst the teams from Rumania and China will battle out the grand finale of the contest on 1st October, when China's National Day is celebrated.

Organized by the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), this year's Macao International Fireworks Display Contest again requests the teams to choreograph their fireworks displays to both music and laser light projections. Moreover, MGTO will join hands with the General Union of Neighbours Association of Macau for another year to present the Fireworks Carnival by Macau Tower with delicacies, shows and fun activities during display nights. Meanwhile, MGTO will promote this year's contest through an array of international, regional and local media and publicity channels.

Details of this year's event programme will be unveiled by MGTO in a press conference scheduled for early July, later available at:www.macaotourism.gov.mo.
