MGTO Hosts Annual Marketing Meeting

Secretary Tam hosts work meeting
Secretary Tam with MGTO officials and market representatives

Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) held its three-day Annual Marketing Meeting 2016 starting on 27th June, with the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture, Alexis Tam, conducting a work meeting on that afternoon addressing the overall planning of marketing strategies for the future and listening to the reports of MGTO's representatives from markets around the world present their work projects and promotional strategies.

During the meeting, Secretary Tam recognized the great efforts made by the market representatives in promoting travel to Macao over the last year, and encouraged them in their endeavours to attract quality tourists and promote quality tourism over pursuing purely growth in visitor numbers. With regional co-operation one of the major development strategies embraced by the SAR Government, he expressed the hope that Macao could develop more multi-destination tour routes with different Mainland provinces and cities to attract more international visitors to the region for its tourism appeal.

He added that the SAR Government had combined the elements of tourism, culture and sports to create a significant synergistic effect by staging three signature events last December – namely, the Macao International Marathon; Parade through Macao, Latin City; and the first edition of the Macao Light Festival. This year, the SAR Government has developed new projects including Anim'Arte Nam Van, the International Film Festival & Awards‧Macao, and the Wushu Masters Challenge. The revitalization project of the Taipa Houses-Museum is another newly-developed tourism product destined to become a major attraction promoted by the representatives.
