Upon completion of the public consultation, comments will be collated and analyzed prior to the preparation of a summary report

The public consultation on the Macao Tourism Industry Development Master Plan was conducted from 23rd May to 22nd July. During the period, two public consultation sessions, two exchange sessions for the local trade and organizations, as well as two special sessions for relevant advisory committees were held, registering over 180 participants. More than 1,100 opinions were collected through public consultation sessions, emails, phone calls and website among others. Opinions were primarily extended with regard to tourism product development, tourism quality and service, urban development of transportation and facilities, tourism source markets and target segments, goals and strategies for tourism development. Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) will collate and analyze the public's input to compile a summary report of the public consultation.

The Macao Tourism Industry Development Master Plan will analyze the current situation of Macao's tourism industry on a variety of aspects including city competitiveness, tourism resources and products, tourism source markets and target segments, tourism branding and city positioning, innovative technology and smart tourism, tourism quality and service, regional tourism co-operation, city development, transportation and accessibility.

Based on detailed analysis of the foregoing, the Consultation Paper proposes four overall goals of the Master Plan and 14 strategies along with various measures to be conducted in the short, medium and long term, in line with the goals established in the Draft of the Macao SAR's Five-Year Development Plan (2016-2020) as guiding principles. The Master Plan serves the objective of promoting sustainable tourism development in Macao and realizing the city's vision in the tourism field as it strives to become a World Centre of Tourism and Leisure.

The tasks involved in the Master Plan are proceeding in three stages. In stage one, data was first collected followed by an analysis of the current tourism situation, with a preliminary draft of the Master Plan prepared by November 2015. Second-stage tasks mainly comprise the launch of public consultation and formulation of a detailed Master Plan, expected to be completed this September; third-stage tasks will then commence in the third quarter of 2016 to amend and complete the final Master Plan, slated for release by mid-2017.
