4th Macao International Travel (Industry) Expo Focusing on Smart Tourism and FIT Travel

4th MITE opens

The 4 th Macao International Travel (Industry) Expo (MITE) will be held from 2nd to 4th September in Hall D, Cotai Expo of The Venetian Macao this year. Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) is taking up the role of organizer for the first time. MGTO Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes hopes that various participating entities can join hands to present a prominent expo, thereby manifesting Macao's ability to professionally organize travel fairs and herald the city's competitive advantages as an international travel destination in diverse aspects. She also looks forward to seeing Macao shine as a platform in the event with a wealth of new opportunities in store for tourism and related sectors in line with Macao's aspirations to become a World Centre of Tourism and Leisure.

The event not only embraces six key elements of the tourism industry - dining, accommodation, transportation, entertainment, sightseeing and shopping - but also features travel-related services, travel media, electronic tourism commerce and technology in tourism among others. The Expo will update exhibitors and industry professionals with the latest news about the local and overseas industry as a platform for exchange and product sales, whilst providing useful travel tips for travel enthusiasts.

The programme of the 4 th MITE features an array of highlights such as seminars, a studio screening tourism videos, sales for Free Independent Travellers (FIT) products, as well as folk customs and specialty show. The seminars will analyse new trends of FIT in the Asia Pacific region, smart tourism development and Internet application, in addition to introduction of FIT travel via high-speed railway and the promotion of hot tourist spots in 2016. Distinguished speakers are invited to share their insights into the topics addressed. In addition, the China-Portugal Tourism Seminar & Networking will facilitate interchange among tourism operators from China and Portuguese-speaking countries.

As of late August, over 200 enterprises and entities from 28 countries and regions had confirmed their participation as exhibitors, including travel agencies, hotels, resorts, scenic spot operators and tourism-related businesses, among others. MGTO has taken progressive steps to promote the 4 th MITE via various publicity channels including TV commercials, radio, newspapers, buses and outdoor advertising. Teledifusão de Macau, S.A. (TDM) and Macau Asia Satellite Television Company Limited (MASTV) are the official media partners of the 4th MITE.
