MGTO Promotional Activities in September

The MGTO UK representative will participate in the ‘Taste of PATA’ event organized by the UK Chapter of PATA

In September, Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) will conduct different activities for visitors from Asia, Europe and Australia to let them know more about Macao as a premier tourism destination.

Malaysia

The MGTO Malaysia representative has arranged a familiarization trip for Malaysia trade partners in tandem with the 4th Macao International Travel (Industry) Expo from 2nd to 4th September, seeking to foster business co-operation and experience new and exciting places in Macao. The travel partners will attend the China-Portugal Tourism Seminar & Networking, meet Macao trades and attend the themed seminars of the event. In addition, the travel partners will experience the 28th Macao International Fireworks Display Contest on the evening of 3rd September, enjoying, as well, the cultural sights and local Macanese cuisine.

Malaysia's largest travel fair - MATTA Fair - will be held in Kuala Lumpur and Penang from 2nd to 4th September and from 23rd to 25th September, respectively. The MGTO Malaysia representative is using vibrant colours for booth decoration to showcase Macao's major upcoming events and festivals such as the 28th Macao International Firework Display Contest, Macao Grand Prix, 'Parade through Macao, Latin City', Macao International Marathon - and more! An interactive panel will promote the Macao International Firework Display Contest, whereby visitors can create their favourite fireworks burst on the wall by using colourful ice-cream sticks. In addition, some participating travel agents will offer attractive Macao packages.

MGTO Malaysia representatives will also organize a familiarization trip to Macao from 13th to 16th September for Malaysian media to experience the 28th Macao International Fireworks Display Contest, Anim' Arte Nam Van and Mid-Autumn Festival celebrations in Macao, during which time a mooncake baking class will be organized for them by a local traditional bakery. In addition, the media will join a BBQ dinner on Hác Sá Beach while enjoying the full moon under lanterns with the mooncakes they had previously baked.

Newly married couple Jazz & Trista, bloggers for Eatlicious, have chosen Macao for their honeymoon trip, and will be featuring Macao as a destination for honeymooners, embracing accommodation, dining experiences and sightseeing. During their trip from 13th to 18th September, they will also be featuring the 28th Macao International Fireworks Display Contest and Anim'Arte Nam Van as new attractions in Macao.

The MGTO Malaysia representative will conduct an Experience Macao Roadshow at 1 Utama Shopping Mall from 21st to 25th September, seeking to increase Macao's visibility and and encourage Malaysian arrivals to Macao. This roadshow will be the second round of the 'Macao Mega Sales' campaign in line with the upcoming events and festivals, with two travel agents offering attractive Macao packages during the roadshow.

MGTO Malaysia will participate in Taste MIGF from 23rd to 25th September, the preview event for the Malaysia International Gourmet Festival at Berjaya Times Square Hotel, Kuala Lumpur to promote Macanese and Portuguese cuisine and Michelin-rated restaurants in Macao. This event will also serve to showcase Macao as a hub for food exploration with a variety of selections from local to Michelin-rated restaurants, in addition to promoting upcoming events and festivals such as the 63rd Macao Grand Prix. MGTO will invite a Macao chef to conduct cooking classes during the event by demonstrating authentic Macanese and Portuguese cuisine with food sampling session. Two travel agents have been selected to join this event and are offering exclusive Wine & Dine Macao packages and 4 Days 3 Nights Luxury stay during the 3-day event.

Portugal

The Macao Tourism Promotion & Information Centre in Portugal will participate in the first edition of the Belem Book Festival from 2nd to 4th September. The event will feature a fair exclusively dedicated to books published in the Portuguese language and will take place in the beautiful gardens of Belem Palace, the official residence of Portugal's President. Sales, book signings and autograph sessions plus cultural activities as well as works by Macao writers in the Portuguese language and Portuguese translations of Chinese authors will feature in the event.

For the third consecutive year, the Macao Tourism Promotion & Information Centre in Portugal will participate at LUMINA – Festival of Light, in Cascais from 8th to 10th September. The show will feature 2D and 3D animation and light effects projected along the towering walls of the Citadel Fortress in Cascais, turning it into a gigantic 'film screen'.

On the weekend of the Mid-Autumn Festival on 18th September, the Macau Tourism Promotion & Information Centre in Portugal will jointly organize with the Naval Association of Amora the 'VI Macao Tourism / Trade 2016' Dragon Boat Races in the Bay of Seixal, in Amora. The Macao Tourism Promotion & Information Centre in Portugal will gather journalists, tour operators, travel agents, airline representatives and other trade friends for a social event, in which Macao students will also participate.

UK

The MGTO UK representative will participate in the 'Taste of PATA' event, organized by the UK Chapter of PATA on 6th September. Attended by 250 travel agents, this interactive fair offers 'a taste' of the different destinations in the Asia Pacific region. It is the biggest showcase of Asia Pacific products in the UK market.

The MGTO UK representative will host a group of UK media for a four-day familiarization trip to Macao from 26th to 30th September. The trip will take in key sites and highlights of Macao, with the journalists sampling the best of Macao's cuisine during their visit. The media will be a mix of national and regional publications and lifestyle titles.

Japan

The MGTO Japan representative plans to organize a media familiarization trip, with the theme of the tour centering on the highlights of Autumn 2016 from 12th to 16th September, through the introduction of the Macao International Fireworks Display Contest and Mid-Autumn Festival as a sample of Macao's popular annual events during their visit. The trip will also include visits to the newly opened Wynn Palace and Cotai, Macao.

In addition, the MGTO Japan representative will participate in the JATA Tourism EXPO 2016 from 22nd to 25th September with more than 175,000 visitors expected for the whole event. A total of seven Macao trade partners (airline, land operators, and hotels) plan to take part on trade days.

Australia

The MGTO Australia and New Zealand representative has gathered a team of 60 young and young-at-heart athletes to lace up their running shoes for the annual Blackmores' Sydney Running Festival on 18th September. The team, which will be made up of travel agents in Australia and members of Casa de Macao and the Macao Student Youths Association, will compete in the Family Fun Run event, staged along a scenic 4km course. Each runner will wear an MGTO branded T-shirt promoting the 35th Macau Marathon to be held on 4th December.
