Wushu Masters Challenge Wraps Up in Macao

The Wushu Masters Challenge has provided a communication platform for wushu enthusiasts

The Wushu Masters Challenge - organised by the Sports Bureau of Macao and Wushu General Association of Macao, and held from 11th to 14th August - incorporated the elements of sport, tourism and culture, whilst providing a communication platform for wushu enthusiasts to learn and train as well as to exchange and share their experiences in practicing wushu.

The opening ceremony, held in Tap Seac Square, comprised a great variety of wushu activities, ranging from traditional wushu performances with music and dance to International Taolu Competition to Suncity Group Chinese and Western Sanda Masters Championship to the SJM Dragon and Lion Dance Championship. Athletes and martial artists from China and foreign countries attracted a large number of residents and visiting spectators.

The Wushu Forum was another attractive activity which involved martial arts masters discussing wushu with participants. Masters also conducted a series of demonstrations in the city's plazas and parks. In addition, cultural and creative booths promoted the martial arts, with creative products promoting Macao's cultural and creative development.

The finale featured a Wushu Parade setting off from the Ruins of St. Paul's showcasing the talents of Lion and Dragon Dance teams from various countries and regions, together with a Macao Wushu master. A large martial arts performance was staged at the final stop in Tap Seac Square.
