Macao to Increase Flight Frequency to Seoul and Fukuoka

MIA experienced its busiest month ever in July, posting the largest number of passenger movements in the Airport's 21-year history

The frequency of flights between Macao and Seoul, in Korea, and Fukuoka, in Japan, will continue to increase, providing more direct air link options between the city and two of its top international visitor-source markets. The announcements about the additional flights come as Macau International Airport broke another monthly record in July, posting the largest number of passenger movements in the Airport's 21-year history.

South Korean home-based carrier T'Way Airlines resumed five weekly flights between Seoul and Macao with effect 22nd July, Also, from 30th October, Air Macau will increase the number of flights to Fukuoka from four to five flights per week, departing every Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday. Meanwhile, Air Seoul, which is owned by Asiana Airlines, is going to apply to the authorities for seasonal flight from Macao to Seoul.

Macau International Airport (MIA) enjoyed its busiest month ever in July, with over 600,000 passenger movements posted for the first time in the Airport's 21-year history; the new record registered the highest single month of passenger traffic with an average daily passenger volume of over 19,000, up 20 per cent vis-a-vis last year. More than 4,900 aircraft movements were recorded in July, some 2 per cent more than in the same period last year. Southeast Asian routes continued to perform well in July. As at the end of July, MIA handled around 1,040 weekly scheduled flights with 30 airlines connecting Macao to 42 cities around the world.
